Remember Baby D?
They were huge with Let Me Be Your Fantasy in '95, the again with I
Need Your Lovin', then hardly anyone brought So Pure and no-one at all
brought Take Me To Heaven. So when they released an album, hardly anyone
noticed
I first heard this album
five years ago, when I was seventeen. I remember I was driving along in Martin the Maestro, down Cleat Hill in Bedford. I was driving Bio to hockey
practice*. Why do I remember this with such eerie clarity? Is it because the music affected me so, and drilled a path straight into my brain? Well, no. To be honest, I don't really know why I remember that so well, and I didn't think much of the album when I first heard it. I thought "Well, it's just loads of bass. Any fool can accomplish that." Bio left the tape in my car, and I left it in my glove compartment for about six months.
I cannot understand how I missed it. I cannot understand what I was thinking. When I listened to Deliverence again, I was overwhelmed by how good it was. Baby D have created an absolute class mix of Drum 'N' Bass and House, and the entire album reeks of quality. Never before nor since has Drum 'N' Bass been so readily accepted to a community full of house and garage fans. The track
Euphoria is perhaps one of the best song's I have ever heard, a combination of House, Happy Hardcore and D'N'B so fantastic it would have gone straight to number one had it ever been a single.
Andy's Records are selling this for £9.99 at the moment. Go out and buy it.
