They were all genius's. Or is that genei? |
This was nearly going to be a secret page, but we figured that more people would see it if it was on a normal page so it's here. Scooter was, in my opinion, the first group to bring Happy Hardcore to the mainstream. Their albums, which include Sheffield, Age Of Love, Our Happy Hardcore and Back To The Heavyweight Jam all entered the top 50 when they were released, with Sheffield getting to number 30. The range of different types of music on each album was astounding, ranging from the trance-like sounds of Stuttgard to the mental thrashing of a distorted bass drum on Crank It Up, to a cover of Rebel Yell, all to be found* on the album Our Happy Hardcore. Several of their songs were recorded live in front of massive* crowds of* ravers, and it's here that scooter shone. H.P. baxxter (the MC) loved getting the crowd to sing along to all the catchy tunes that Ferris Bueller (or, later, Axel Coon) and Rick Jordan would spin up, almost all of them well known ditties like Rose Of Scotland (in How Much Is The Fish?) or the Theme Tune to Miss Marple (in Back In The UK), and I truly believe that no-one but Scooter could have pulled this off (from Fuck The Millennium), and how many people are at this little show (from How Much Is The Fish?)?
Scooter remixed the Mortal Kombat game music into something for the film and did a fantastic song, and wrote one of the best tunes of all time: Back In The UK. Among their more famous songs were Move your Arse and I'm Raving I'm Raving (a cover of Walking in Memphis), but since then the releases have dried up.
The sad thing is that the members of HSLife are just a bit too young and ended up missing the scene by about two years, otherwise we'd have followed Scooter from gig to gig. That upsets Nase_2K and DJ Ess more than you could ever imagine*.
So, Scooter then. Massive respect.
